What for? Apple released iBooks for OS X back in 2013

The simple answer, since Apple doesn't care about their customers, is to just not buy books from Apple. Books purchased from Amazon work on literally everything. Maybe if Apple sees a major exodus of iBooks users, they'll start to listen.

You're completely right, I just bought LotR for my iPhone and I'm surprised and frustrated that I can't read it on my desktop. I actually prefer the iBooks app, but I'm going to be using Google Play Books for now on.

This is a serious flaw on Apple's part.😠

Is yours a Windows desktop? Apple provided the app needed to read books from the iBookstore on Mac desktops 3 years ago already.

It is new, but its PC and I've been unable to find an app to read iBooks on PC. What confuses me the most ids why they don't have a web browser reader like literally ever other major eBook reader out there.

It would appear that Apple gives higher priority to selling ipads than to expanding the market for ibooks to android/windows. Logicially I would have expected them to have produced iBooks apps for those other platforms years ago. They do state on every purchase page in the iBookstore what devices are required to read their books, but many buyers don't read it.
