New Mac not detecting blu-ray drive

I have an old Mac mini running High Sierra and I just got a brand new one to replace it. The new one is running Catalina. While the old Mac mini detects my blu-ray drive, the new one isn't detecting it at all. The blu-ray player doesn't show up on the Finder sidebar. What should I be doing? Thanks for your help.

Hi. The blu-ray drive does turn on once plugged into the Mac, but the Mac doesn't detect it. I also have a DVD drive that I once purchased at the App Store. The new Mac isn't detecting that either. The following website says that Catalina can play DVDs and I found the DVD player, but still, the Mac doesn't detect it. It doesn't show up in Finder.

MacOSs don't support Blu-ray Discs by default, perhaps your player came with a software package that is on your old Mac that is not on your new Mac. (Note that if that is the case, that software has to be 64 bit to work with Catalina.)

Regular CDs or DVDs should show up in the finder only after they are inserted into a powered up drive.
