A while back, my notifications stopped popping up on my Imessage app. They’ll show up at the top of my screen, on my lock screen, like I still get notifications but they just don’t show up on my app. I’m attaching a picture so you can see what i’m talking about better. I hope it can get fixed or someone can tell me what to do because it can be annoying because I don’t know when to check my messages/ if i have any.

It appears that the badge count on your app icon is not getting updated when you get new messages.
You will need to check something to ensure that the the notifications are setup to display a badge count. Here is how to check that setting.
Go To Setting-->>Notifications-->>Messages and ensure that Badges is set to ON.

Try to reset the settings of your device under Settings > General > Reset.
