Broken front glass iPhone 11 Pro

So, my brand new iPhone 11 Pro fell from less than 1 meter and broke the front glass. I think it's unbelievable the damage it caused falling from this height, and I don't know what to do now. I don't have Apple Care and I live in Argentina, where they can't repair the phone because it is not on sale yet. I bought it in New York a month ago, is there anything you guys think I can do to have it fixed? I can't get in touch with anyone from tech support either, I'm desperate to have more options available.

I thought about that, I have some friends going on holiday to the US next month. Do you think they could fix it free of charge?

That won't be free since it's obvious that it was accidental damage which is never covered by warranty. That's $279 plus sales tax in the US. The AppleCare+ deductible is $29.

So in the end the only possible way would be to go to the US and have it fixed for 279$

It might be possible to get it repaired by Apple or an AASP in another country. The screen assembly is a universal part, and any place they can order and install them can technically do it for any iPhone. The only problem is that often repair is limited to the country of original purchase, although that seems to be primarily because of distribution issues relating to national regulations. I have heard (in this forum) someone claiming that an iPhone screen for a model from the Philippines was replaced at an Apple Store in Singapore.

Here's the price in Brazil, if you could find your way to Rio or Sao Paulo.

That's a fairly minor chip. Unless something else is wrong you can easily live with it until perhaps you have a chance to travel to the US.

There's no guarantee you would be able to get an official repair in Argentina anyways, even once that model is available for sale. Not all regions where Apple has Apple Authorized Service Providers fix iPhones. Many fixes are really just replacements, and they're not likely to replace a US phone for any number of reasons.

You might be able to get a replacement screen at an Apple Store, but there are no guarantees. There are only two Apple Stores in all of South America - both in Brazil.

Yeah I read that.. though it's ridiculous it can break like that for such a fall. Especially when they advertise having such a strong glass on the 11 pro...

It's still glass. Also - I can't really make out the line because the photo isn't focused, but I've seen something similar before. I had an iPad Mini 2 that was dropped in the corner but the damage seemed to be limited. In a few weeks another crack spread and went all the way across the glass. That actually worked with the crack for over a year before the digitizer started to show signs of "ghost touch".

Still - it might not be great but I've seen plenty of people who just use a damaged display until they can get it fixed. As long as the digitizer still works and there's no sharp bits of glass it shouldn't be a problem.

Anyone had this fixed relatively easily yet? I heard some people got a new phone when going to the Apple store with a broken front glass. I don't know what that depends on though, can't seem to find anything sure on the internet

It might be possible if there's a factory defect. Such defects are very distinctive. They show no impact point, and yours clearly shows where the impact was. They're maybe one thin, hairline crack that may split and doesn't have any missing pieces. However, it looks like the bezel wasn't damaged, which happens with a lot of impact cracks.

But yours? No way would that be a warranty repair. You also say it happened after you dropped it.
