Duplicating Projects in iMovie on the iPad

I need to duplicate a project in iMovie on the iPad so I can make several iterations of the same movie. I’m using the iPad Pro iPadOS 13.3. None of the tutorials I’ve seen work. Most talk about exporting to iTunes but that option isn’t available.

MacBook Pro 13", OS X 10.11

The first step is to export the file for the project you wish to duplicate. https://help.apple.com/imovie/iphone/2.2.8/#/knac0ef8f342

  1. In iMovie on your device, do one of the following:
    • From the Projects browser: Tap the project you want to export.
    • If you’re editing a project: Tap Done (in the upper-left corner) to return to the project details screen.
  1. Tap the Share button , then tap Export Project.
  2. A progress indicator appears during the export. The exported project has the same name as the original, with a version number appended (for example, Kauai Trail Biking 1).
  3. Tap Save to Files, then tap On My iPhone.
  4. Tap Save, then tap X.

Then you will need to import a copy of the project to iMovie. https://help.apple.com/imovie/iphone/2.2.8/#/kna4501e471

  1. In the Projects browser, tap the More Options button at the bottom of the screen, then tap Import Project.
  2. Tap Browse, then navigate to the iMovie folder.
  3. Tap the name of the project you want to import.
  4. When the import is complete, the project opens and can be edited in the same way as any other project.
