Mac keeps booting into macOS Recovery

I have a Mac which keeps booting into macOS Recovery. I can then restart it and it will go back to a normal startup and login screen, but this is very annoying as it can take a few minutes to get there.

is there a way to fix this and make sure it does not boot into the recovery mode? Is there a setting or repair that controls this?

Thanks.

Go to System Preferences and make sure the Startup Disk is properly selected to be your internal boot drive. You will need to click on the padlock to unlock the preference panel in order to see the setting.

If your internal boot drive is already selected, then try a PRAM reset (hold the PRAM reset for a full minute so it activates several times). Then make sure to go back into the Startup Disk System Preferences to re-select your internal boot volume as the default boot option.
