That is such a shame. Since Find My [Device] was not activated on the iPhone and you did not get an opportunity to setup an Apple ID on it, I am afraid that the only thing that you can do is look for it the conventional way. Report it stolen to the police and also notify Apple so that it can report it stolen in its databases.

Some banks offer a refund in such cases. If you payed for the iPhone with a credit card, file a police report and then contact your bank. They might not refund the whole amount of money, but still.

That is correct Serge. There are some banks that issue credit cards with that feature (Lost/Stolen Protection) and some even extend the standard manufacturer's warranty. The sad thing is that the feature has become a rarity these days.

Regardless, its something that the OP should check. I agree.
