I’m trying to connect one of my iMacs (I have two 20 inch 2008 iMacs, a 27 inch Late 2009 iMac, and a 27 inch 2019 iMac) and i’m trying to connect one of them to my gaming pc with a displayport connector for use as a display. Do I need a mini displayport to displayport cable?
The 27 inch Late 2009 iMac should work as a display.

Take the 2008's out of the mix, they never supported TDM which is now considered dead by Apple. Personally I'd just buy an external display for the PC and call it a day.
Sorry but you are incorrect, TDM did not begin until late 2009 27" iMacs!
Just use a displayport to hdmi cable and it will work
no a 2008 does i think. i think he just needs a mini DVI cable
Also remove the 2019 iMac.
