Microsoft Office 2019 Student and Home.....or....MS Office 365

What's the best Microsoft Office product to get for a new MacBook Air running Catalina? I want to compare MS Office 2019 Student and Office with MS Office 365. Need advice on which to purchase from those who have used these. I used MS Office 2011 on my old MacBook Pro and I know that won't work now. I don't like the idea of having to pay Microsoft EVERY year and I don't need it to run on 5-6 computers...only my one laptop. I want to make sure my old Word documents and old Excel spreadsheet documents will open too. Which one is better?

The applications (e.g., Word, Excel, etc) are identical in Office 2019 Home and Student and Office 365. The differences are in how you pay (one-time vs subscription), free One Drive storage with Office 365, future feature updates.

If you don't use Outlook and have no need for Skype or OneDrive (Microsoft's cloud service) and will only use it on one computer then the 2019 Student version is probably the best solution. What makes the subscription a viable solution is the ability to install it on multiple computers for multiple family members - Mac and Windows.
