Video Issues

Whenever I bring up a video to watch, the audio plays fine but the screen is black.

Windows, Windows 10

First, I would like to have you try using safe mode to see if the issue persists. Here is how you can Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac.


If that does not resolve the issue, try loading into a new user and see if the issue persists. Here is how you can Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac.


If troubleshooting is still necessary after that, I would like to you reinstall your OS and try testing. Here is How to reinstall macOS from macOS Recovery.

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities! I understand you are having trouble playing video but you can hear audio. I am here to help.


Apple has a great resource to help you find out what to do If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won't turn on or is frozen.


If that doesn't help, let us know a bit more about your issue exactly and we can go from there. Does this issue only happen when playing video or during other actions as well?
