Can you use a gift card to purchase AppleCare+ online?

I know that in an Apple Store you can purchase AppleCare+ with an Apple Store Gift Card, and I also know that they are unable to take a Apple Store Gift Card as payment for AppleCare+ over the phone with Apple Support. I would like to add AppleCare+ to my new MacBook Pro.

After being passed off to 3 different people, I will leave and drive 2 hours back home without AppleCare+ and my time and money totally wasted. Apple used to be super great to work with. Now they are just a giant capitalist corporation designed to separate you from you money!

Shop AppleCare+ with a Gift Card. I'm trying to purchase Apple Care using a gift card received when purchasing a new MacBook, but for some I can't. My gift card says I can use it for any product or any apple services. I read this article that says all I need to do is redeem it to my Apple ID to make the purchase for the AppleCare plan, but when trying to buy the plan it's saying the card is not enable for payments on the web. Can somebody please explain me how to do it?
