Hi I accidentally started a new photo library.. now do I retrieve the old one?

I had a external hard drive in and I was trying to retrieve some files. I accidentally started a new photo library but lost the one I had:

how do I get back to that one? Totally freaking out: it had albums set from a long time... please help

You can switch between Photos Libraries by selecting the one you want to use in the Finder and double clicking it. Photos will switch to that library. Or, you quit Photos, then hold down the options key while clicking the Photos icon in the Dock. Release the options key ⌥ when the library chooser panel appears, then select the library you want to browse.
