Rechargeable Keyboard options

When I received my new 27" Mac for Christmas (2019) I knew it came with the standard rechargeable Magic Keyboard without the Numeric Keypad. I would like to purchase a wireless rechargeable Magic Keyboard with Numeric Keypad in place of the standard rechargeable wireless keyboard that came in the package. What should I do with the Magic Keyboard? Can I trade it in at the Apple Store and pay the difference in price for a Magic Keyboard with Numeric Keypad? Or will it only be recycled through Apple with no trade-in value? What are my options? Can the standard wireless keyboard that came with the 27" Mac be paired up with my Mid-2011 21.5" MacOS High Sierra in placed of the hardwired keyboard? Any positive suggestions will be appreciative. Thank you.

Hello dialabrain -

I wanted to let you know I was able pair up with the new wireless magic keyboard that came with the 27" macOS Catalina. All I had to do was use the lighting cord and connect it to the magic keyboard and the USB on the 2011 macOS High Sierra. Within a couple of minutes the 2011 Mac found it and it is working fine. Once the pairing was completed, the lighting is not needed. The bluetooth icon from the top tray bar shows the Magic keyboard is working. In the meantime, am now using my original wired keyboard with numeric keys on the new macOS Catalina. If and when I got tired of using the wired keyboard, I will look into third-party wireless keyboards as per your recommendations. You may want to share this information when others Mac users have a similar question as mind. Thank you.

Thank you rkaufmann87. I will certainly try to pair my wireless keyboard that came with my 27" macOS Catalina with my older version 2011 macOS. If it doesn't pair up I was curious if the new wireless keyboard rechargeable battery will go bad or weak over a period of time from not being used? I do plan on getting another wireless keyboard with numeric keys. I will keep you posted.
