skin irratations and itchy ears from powerbeats pro wireless

Recently purchased power beats pro wireless and from the moment I started using them.I noticed itching in my inner ear, and where the hooks sit on the top of your ear.My right ear also has some drainage from the inner ear. How many others have this same experience.I’ve read on other websites that quite a few people are also experiencing the same problem and if Apple is going to back there product?

Met0012, I bought some Comply foam ear tips. The ones I got were the Comfort 400 assorted sizes pack.

They worked fine, but unfortunately I didn't get to give them a really good tryout along with my whole ear covers — yup, I'm the "genius" :) — before I had to send the PBPs back to Apple. If the only reaction you get from the PBPs is inside your ear canals, then maybe different ear tips like the ones from Comply will solve the problem for you. For me the skin reaction was everywhere the PBPs touched my skin, so that's why I decided to try the now-defunct covers idea. Oh well... There are, of course, wireless earphones with ear hooks made by other manufacturers and I might give some of them a try, but again, what I really want is some PBPs that don't drive my ears crazy!

I have been getting a skin reaction (skin peels by ear and ear drainage) when wearing the beats. I have cleaned the beats thinking it may have been the problem, however, I have tried several times and the skin reaction comes right after wearing them. Can someone please reach out and let me know if there is anything being done about this? now that I realized it is not only my concern. Thank you.

Meldeleon, I haven't heard that Apple is doing anything about this other than giving refunds if people are willing to go through the process of getting in touch with Apple Support, answering a bunch of questions, sending in photos of their ears etc. as reported in all the posts above. Have you been in contact with Apple Support yet?

I have had the same experience. I started wearing mine more when I started working from home due to COVID19. First, I noticed my inner ear getting very itchy. I eventually removed the noise cancelling piece, but I ended up with an inner ear infection and was prescribed a host of antibiotics. Then about two weeks ago I noticed the back of my ear was very itchy and eventually formed a scab. The only thing I could attribute it to was my Powerbeats Pro as nothing else had changed. It eventually cleared up with Neosporin. I haven’t used them in over a week so I figured I would try them again this morning and sure enough my ear is itching again. So, looks like I must be allergic to something in these. Apple, will you do something to address this?

I had the exact same problem. I spent a good 15 hours on the phone with their support, sending them photos of the infection of my ears. At the conclusion they agreed to take the earphones back and were to send me materials to do so. Never came. Followed up and was assured they were being sent. Never came. Given the number of complaints you see on the internet about this and the runaround you get from Apple I'm surprised they haven't drawn a class action suit about this--particularly since they're in California, which is a real stickler for hazardous materials in products.
