I'm trying to record a film clip to show in class, using the built-in screen capture function in OSX Catalina on a new MacBook Air.
When I play a movie in Apple TV it plays fine, but when I start screen recording using Shift+Command+5, the window playing the moving goes black (though sound continues).
The same problem happens when I try to record it using Quicktime.
How can this be fixed?

Thanks, I think I see what you mean. It's not possible to record even a second of movie content on iTunes, apparently.
Try using "Screenshots" it's in Application Utilities Folder
Thank you for the suggestion. But it still blacks out the video when recording.
I think it may not be possible, but with these search words I found some sites which show some info to say it may be possible.
"screenshot apple tv movie on mac" that is what I searched with
