I have been having much difficulty printing to my Brother HL-5470DW printer since upgrading to Mac OS 10.15.2. It will print but takes 15 - 20 minutes to start printing....often requiring me to "Resume" printing as it "pauses" itself.

I have tried all of those with the same issues. A Brother senior support tech told me they are aware of this issue with Mac OS Catalina. I thought someone might have discovered a work around.
How do you connect to the printer? Have you tried ethernet?
Being the printer is discontinued support is probably discontinued.
Are you using Air-Print, Ethernet or USB to connect and print from your iMac?
Is it slow printing from just one App or from others as well?
I have done each of these steps but if I understand correctly from Brother, there is an issue with their printers using Mac OS Catalina. I am currently using Mac OS 10.15.2. I have updated the printer driver already. The printer will print but not in a timely fashion. It can take up to 15 minutes before a print job will actually print. I had no issues using Mac OS High Sierra. Does anyone know of a work around for this issue in Catalina?
Yes, I have the same issues using an Ethernet connection as I do using wireless.
