What does sim card free mean when purchasing a new iPhone? I currently have a prepaid service and am trying to buy a new iPhone.

A SIM FREE iPhone, which can only be purchased directly from Apple, is an UNLOCKED iPhone that will work on any carrier's network that it is designed for. In short, it is an unlocked iPhone ready to get on just about any network.
