You mean "Almost equal to"? You can find it in the Character viewer in Math Symbols. You can't type it directly as far as I know.

Well, since the term "squiggly" seems to be up for interpretation, I'll just say that I use a "tilde" (~) to mean "approximately" or "about".
The tilde is the shifted key above the tab.

You can use the Keyboard Viewer to locate alternate characters (not printed on the key caps) that are available for your keyboard and language.
Enable the shortcut menu to be displayed in the menu bar by going to
