Are there different cards for iTunes and App Store

I purchased 3, $10.00 cards in the grocery store for my grandson, the cards say iTunes and we can’t get them to work in the apps store. Are these just for the iTunes music only.

The iTunes gift cards should work in the App Store. What message are you receiving? What type of gift card do I have? - Apple Support
