Mac stuck on startup

My iMac was stuck on the white startup screen, so i've tried various ways of rebooting it like the command + R options, but after it reaches the internet startup page it loads and the screen goes white again. I have a late 2011 model which is running High Sierra. I think it's a hard drive issue, but is there anything else i can try before having to take it to a specialist?

Hello,

Do you hear a clicking sound whenever your Mac tries to startup? Whenever your Mac starts up into Recovery, open Disk Utility > Look to see if Disk Utility can detect your Mac’s hard disk.

Have you tried resetting your Mac’s SMC, NVRAM/PRAM? Have you run Apple Hardware Test?
