Catalina won't download
I am running Mojave on my MacBook Pro 2017. When I try to download Catalina, a message says my system is up to date.

No, you can do it. The Terminal program is in the Applications/Utilities folder. Double click it to open. Copy then paste the command I posted into the Terminal window. Press Return. It will ask for your user password, type it in then hit Return. Then you can quit the Terminal. Then reopen System Preferences > Software Update.
If you have any problem, ask.

Okay! It took several hours, but running the command in the terminal program did enable me to load Catalina. I was hoping that would solve another problem, which is that my fan runs constantly. I'll start a new thread for that. Thanks!
Run this command in the Terminal then reopen System Preferences > Software Update.
sudo softwareupdate --reset-ignored
I am not a power user. Exactly how do I find Terminal and how do I run a command. Would it be better for me to discuss this at the Genius Bar?
You're welcome. See? Told you you could do it. 😎
Lol! Thanks for the encouragement. I will be 74 years old next month and sometimes I wonder if I know just enough to get myself in trouble. 😉
Most welcome and Happy Birthday. 🎂
