Video driver crashes intermittantly

The video on my Macbook crashes on a random basis. I occasionally get this error message with the option to send to Apple, which I have done several times. Has anyone had an issue with the display simply going blank, or received this message. Thanks

That kernel panic is a GPU panic, that occurs with the NVIDIA drivers present. The often implicates the Discrete graphics chip as the failure.

If you had an older MacBook Pro, their \discrete graphics chips were a bit failure-prone, and one work-around if you did not want to pay for a repair was to disable the discrete graphics chips with some hobbyist hacks.

That made you computer seem like it only had the Integrated graphics chip, so you lost external display support, but most stuff continued to work, just slightly slower.

I totally reinstalled the OS long ago and a loaded minimum of applications. Does the error message provide any insight into the issues ? The "time to crash" varies and seems unrelated to any application issues. I use it primarily for internet access via Chrome. We had written it off and put it on a shelf, then I decided to give it another try, and it worked for at least a week before crashing, whereas previously it would crash in hours or minutes, and I never received the error message above. It sat unused for at least a year. I installed Catalina and Malwarebytes and it seems less unstable but is still unreliable.
