I can not unmute my MacBook Air

I can not unmute my MacBook Air. the mute box in output window is selected and I am not able to unselect it.

What if the mute box is checked by there's no option to uncheck it? There's no sound on my MacBook Pro. Also, the mute box in Sound is checked and I can't uncheck it! I just have no idea how to proceed.

Reset should help...Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac - Apple Support
