The right to downgrade IOS from 4 to 3.1.3 should be returned!
I am using Ipod Touch 3rd Generation. I have had a great battery issue since I upgraded to IOS 4. By searching for solutions for days, I believe many Ipod Touch users are suffering the same problem. Although there is no official explanation, most people think this is the result of the new strategy of WiFi access and the notification. Maybe it is necessary for iPhone 4 to achieve some "fabulous" jobs. But Apple shouldn't only take the future income into consideration. Since we paid for our Apple products, the update with good features should be included and Apple should care about us previous users. If Apple is so occupied by attracting new customers, it should give users the right to choose a better solution.
I strongly claim the right of choosing IOS versions. If you also want the right to select your favorite IOS versions, please support this post and let more and more people see it. We hope this concern could be noticed by Apple, which is probably busy with the antenna issue in IPhone 4.
I tried it from my Mac, just for the heck of it, and yay, yet another failure mode: "The iPod "iPod" could not be restored. This device isn't eligible for the requested build". Well it's better than nondescript error numbers I guess, but the bottom line is still that iTunes flatly refuses to install anything prior to 4.0.
Whether the "74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com" line is in /etc/hosts makes no difference.
i agree i have many problems with my ipod touch that i didnt have before i downloaded the new ios. The bad part is I just bought an ipod 32g and i would like apple to fix it or for me to get my money back!!!!!!
Are you sure you're getting your Touch into DFU mode? I mean really, really sure ... it's not rocket science but timing is important. If you fail to get into DFU mode then you'll likely get the errors you're seeing.
I couldn't agree more!! I have been trying to downgrade and I have found many sites to help you with it. There were people that it worked for but unfortunately all the methods have been unsuccessful and one even said that Apple is blocking it. Every time I tried what they said I made it up to the point where Apple verifies and they I'm denied. This isn't fair to be stuck with this OS when I don't like it. I should be able to go back if I want to! I have done nothing but sing praises for Apple but right now I have nothing great to say 😟
