Apple calendar app deleted

I deleted my Calendar app a couple months ago. When I tried to re-download it, it just gives me the option to open it, which it does when I push open. Also, when I swiped right on my home screen, it is still installed as a widget, but the app icon is not on my phone. How do I get the icon back?
