Ipod Shuffle to Honda City

Hey,
When I connect ipod shuffle 3rd generation with latest firmware 1.1 to the USB port of my new Honda City, It says "OLD VERSION". I checked with Honda city manual, it supports the firmware 1.0 onwards.
How can i solve this problem?
Does ipod shuffle compatible with Honda city?

plug in your player, power it off totally until there is no light.
after that power it on.

Somehow, it works for my iphone 3Gs with iOS 4.01.

not sure how to upgrade the software on the honda player unit itself. anyone have any ideas?
