Loud sudden noise on Bluetooth

I’ve a 2018 MBP connected to a Sony HT-RT3 via Bluetooth. Whenever a movie starts or ends it makes a really loud cracking noise, like some interference. It’s like it would play on full volume.

Speaker is fine as no other devices make this (win10 laptop, iPhone, android phones are all ok).

I’ve read a lot had this problem with 10.10, and it was fixed in 10.13, but I still have this problem with 10.15.2.

It really hurts our ears, I would be happy if anyone has a solution.

Hi Ishaureni,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. it sounds like you’re having trouble with your speaker connected via Bluetooth. I’m happy to help.

To start, I suggest unpairing and then pairing the speaker again:

Remove a Bluetooth device from your Mac

If you want to remove (unpair) a Bluetooth device from your Mac's device list, follow these steps:

  1. Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Bluetooth.
  2. Hover the pointer over the device you want to remove, then click the "x" button that appears next to the device's name.

If that doesn’t help, I suggest the following:

Resolve Wi-Fi and Bluetooth issues caused by wireless interference - Apple Support

Lastly, see if the issue happens when connected via USB.

Take care.
