then why do they provide alphabets on keypad?
Okay.

Phones have had numbers on the keypads (or dials) since long before smart phones. In the U.S., phone numbers used to be designated by named exchanges. Where I grew up, one of the common ones was Lawrence. A number would be listed in the phone book as LA5-1212. Now, it's mostly so that you can dial numbers that are advertised words, like 1-800-FLOWERS.
You mean that few numbers are alpha-numeric combination in old days.
If that is the reason, Why do i not able to enter alphabets from dial pad?
For example, if we think like alpha-numeric numbers are not present now so that mobile designed as not allowing us to enter alphabets from dial pad. But instead of giving alphabets on dial pad....it should disappear.

And you probably stop calling it a "dial pad". No one has ever "dialed" a mobile phone. But, it's what we've been saying since phones did have dials, so we're used to it.
Nope.
If you want to call a contact, go under contacts and select the one to call.
