Can't delete files

Can't delete files in folder "recently deleted". In app "Files"

how do I delete files from the files app? How do I delet files from the Files app? No Delete option showing.

Files downloaded or moved to Downloads folder are immediately moved to Trash As in the title. I assume there is a setting somewhere that I am missing. Anyone know? Thank you!
