I would like to know about THE EXACT FREE STORAGE available out of box for iPad air 3 256gb model?????

It is going to be around approx. 248 GBs.

No where near 256 GBs.

I just checked the capacity in iTunes on my Mac. The free storage is 238.41 GB. I thought there would be more than that, but that’s what is says in the Summary Pane of iTunes.

Check it on the actual device and see what it reports.

18 GBs is a huge chunk of storage missing.

I do the same thing.

I use/spinkle copious/spurious amounts of all caps and bold all caps for content emphasis here a lot of times in the ASC.

That depends on when the iPad was made. It will ship with iOS 13 installed at least. I got mine for Christmas and I believe that iOS 13.1 was on it. I know that I had to update it to iOS 13.3.
