Why I cannot see my toshiba external hard drive on my laptop anymore?

I recently plugged in my external hard drive and I am unable to find it on my mac now. I checked the disk utility and it isn't showing up there either. Theres a blue light that comes on when i plug the external drive into the computer but it eventually goes away. Also, I am not sure if I am supposed to have a software on the computer for the hard drive. I recently began deleting a lot of applications on the computer and I am wondering if this have anything to do with it as well. Please help!!

It could be receiving power without a proper connection to data.

Have you looked to see if it shows up on the USB tree in System Report? It's on the drop down menu >About This Mac, then click on System Report. Then look under Hardware>USB. Sometimes the hardware if fine but the drive got corrupted and might not mount as a result.

Can you clarify the computer involved? Your equipment line says “iMac Pro”  but you post in the forum for MacBook Pro notebook computers.

Normally this would not affect answers and those repsonses already provided will help immensely but, should you be having a low-power issue common to some external drives, what computer you have affects one of the workabouts and the ports available for options.
