Handoff

Hello Apple Community users. I remember a few years back my Safari browser had the handoff icon pop up out of nowhere. I didn’t know what handoff even was back then, so the curiosity got the better of me. When I entered Safari, I was immediately directed to an adult website. I’m not 100% sure how handoff works, but this is quite scary remembering it. Could someone have hacked my Apple ID at the time? Any answer helps. Thank you for your time!

Hello,

Is Handoff enabled on all your Apple devices in Settings > General > Handoff?

Handoff for Safari works if another Apple device is signed in with your Apple ID and is visiting a website in Safari. That Safari browsing session will then be available on all of your other Apple devices.

Hello zmclearan. This is my only device I have connected to my Apple ID. I know that for handoff to work, you need multiple devices with handoff enabled. But because this is the only device connected to my Apple ID, and the handoff directs me to an adult website, that begs the question, could someone have hacked my Apple ID at the time?
