i use , at the moment, a gmail address as Apple ID.
I like to change that into a @icloud.com address. I have the idea it is much safer than gmail.com
But is that true? I use Ipad 10.5 pro and a Mac 27” Catalina

I have used a gmail address as my Apple ID for years. No issues with security for me.
If you have a non-Apple email address as your Apple ID, you can change that if you change email addresses in the future. If you have an Apple email address, you can't.

thank you for your answer. I asked this question because I had the feeling that google knows a lot about me. And maybe Apple mail could be better.
But not changing an Apple ID is a very big disadvantage.
