alias files - icloud drive

How to make changes/corrections to alias files on icloud drive? On my ipad, I see the files, but cannot make any changes. Always have to go back to my Mac to do so. Solutions?

Tell us the whole story, from the beginning, please

iCloud files are NOT aliases - the files "live" in iCloud.com

Think of them like you would IMAP emails

I can seamlessly create and edit files (Numbers, Pages, Keynote) in either iCloud (for Windows) or on my iPhone

I have the LATEST software on both devices - do you?
