double click/tap not working issue

My MacBook Air needs triple click/tap or more clicks to open a folder, play music, open a video/ file,

etc. there was nothing available in the system preference to do anything about this. This is very irritating as I can't open anything properly.

Hi, BarathPA5.

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. If I understand correctly, you’re having to triple-click where you should only have to double-click on your MacBook Air running macOS Catalina.

In this is the case, you may need to adjust the reaction time for your double-click. You can do this by going to System Preferences > Accessibility > Pointer Control to adjust the slider.

Check it out:

Change Mouse & Trackpad preferences for accessibility on Mac

You may find the macOS User Guide for macOS Catalina a great resource. I have it bookmarked on my iMac for quick reference!

Best Regards.
