Blocking Spam Texts From a Email Addresses

For the last few weeks, I have been receiving SPAM texts from unknown email addresses. At this time, my iOS device is unable to block messages from email addresses without going through my cellular carrier. What is Apple doing to fix this issue?

SMS/MMS service is fully controlled by your carrier. iPhone gives ability to block contacts that can be identified by phone number. If message comes as SMS/MMS from id that cannot be identified only carrier can help you.
