Magic mouse 2 sync to 2018 Macbook Pro without cable

Was told and also confirmed through research, that Magic Mouse 2 was compatible with my 2018 Macbook Pro, but I don't have the correct port for the lightening USB cable. I tried syncing via Bluetooth setup, but the mouse (which was turned on) was not discovered. I tried restarting my computer, but that didn't help. My mouse is brand new and charged. Please help!!

Your mouse will pair automatically with your Mac. After the mouse is paired, disconnect the cable to use your mouse wirelessly". So at this stage I'm unable to pair the new Magic Mouse to my iMac as previously mentioned my iMac only has USB-A ports UNLESS I now go and purchase a USB-A Cable with USB-C connector. Has anyone else had this problem? Am I correct in saying that I now need an additional cable to get the new mouse 'paired' with my late 2013 27 inch iMac?

Magic Mouse I have a single magic mouse. Can I pair that mouse with both my 2019 IMac and my new MacBook Pro?

See https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201178. You do need to plug it in to initially pair it. You would need to get a USB-C to Lightning Cable, or you could also get a USB-C to USB-A adapter to allow you to use other USB-A accessories with your 2018 MacBook Pro as well.
