I need to reset it to factory. I gave it as a gift to a close friend and she cannot remember her password or code. Any suggestions? I bought a IPad version 9.3.5 (13G36) model: MC7700LL/A.

That Apple ID and password is mandatory to reset the device

Turn off Activation Lock - Apple Support
