Time Machine backup before to sell iMac

Hi to all,

I'll sell my iMac before to have the new one at home . Now it is installed OS X Mojave and I make Time Machine backup everyday.

Probably I'll buy an iMac with OS X Catalina. does it will be possible to restore all my programs and files ?

is it a good backup method before to sell the iMac?

I'd like to be sure to have a complete backup as I'll go to erase the hard disk before to have the new iMac.

thanks

if the application is compatible with Catalina it can be transferred over with Apples built in migration assistant

it's a good method to backup before you go make a sandwich so yes

you do not need to erase anything before you migrate files from your backup time machine disk to the new computer

see this link for information on macOS migration assistant
