Running iOS 13.3 when I open Mail down at the bottom you see. Account Error: Gmail. Details.
You can’t click on details to open it and see what the error is. Deleted Mail and reinstalled it. Still the same problem. Removed the Gmail account and changed every setting imaginable.

I contacted the Apple support and i sent them the screenshot of the error. Afterhours they contacted me and told me that the screenshot was seen by Apple developers and by the engineers. The error is caused by an incorrect interfacing between Apple and Google. They think it is google's fault. Because the app Mail works well.

The Apple support told me to contact the email provider, but i don’t konw how to do it. What iPhone do you have?
Tried all of that. It does not matter how you change up the settings it will still show that at the bottom.
Gmail/Google plays the blame game and says it's a software or Mail issue with Apple. I've found others asking the same question but no answers.
What irritating is not being able to tap that Details part and getting it to open so that you can see the problem.
Finally got the error to show. "The mail server "imap.gmail.com is not responding. Verify that you have entered the correct account info in mail settings"
As I said I tried it all >removed my Gmail account and added it several times. I adjusted the Push and Fetch settings. Deleted and reinstalled the iOS Mail app. Nothing fixes it.
No. Blame game. Apple blames Google and Google blames Apple. They're not interested in solving issues.
I now have a bigger issue. I removed my Gmail email account from Mail and now it will not let me add it back
I sent them the same screenshot and the blame game began.
