How to remove Calendar spam?

So, i was browsing Internet in Safari in iPhone and there was this website and when i opened it there was a pop-up and i accidentally clicked on “subscribe” and then i noticed my calendar had events like “IPhone security pack discount”. Any suggestions as to how to remove access of these sites from my calendar. I know it’s isn’t interrupting me or anything but still it’s frustrating and one another thing do i have to worry about my other information like partner details or my logging saved in my iPhone? Here is my calendar looking rn

Go to Settings/Calendar/Accounts, Tap Subscribed Calendars, tap on the offending calendar and delete it.

More precisely:

  • Tap on the Settings icon
  • Scroll down to Calendar and tap on on it
  • Tap on Accounts
  • Tap on Subscribed Calendars
  • Tap on the offending calendar
  • Tap Delete Account

Either I am having a completely different experience, or something new is out there. I have no 'subscription' calendars. Just my normal 3 calendars. I also have no suspicious new entries under passwords, or mail accounts. It appears that my spam email, which is actually going to my spam folders (not read, not opened, no links clicked, etc), is actually creating automatic calendar invites. I can't delete the entries, I can't report them, and - yes, I even went so far as to hit decline - knowing it would send a notification, but it doesn't actually decline or remove the entry. Irony here is that I can't even find the 'invite' to report the email. This is happening only with my primary hotmail account and calendar (which is my primary calendar for everything) and only happening on my iPhone and iPad. I have logged into my Microsoft account and reviewed the calendar and my iCloud account and reviewed my calendar - and the entries aren't there. This has only been going on for a few days but now it's taken over my calendar and outside of being frustrating, it makes me wonder why there isn't an option with my devices for 'invites' to not automatically be added to my calendar on the devices. Is that something that's being looked at by Apple at all? If I could just 'opt out' of email invites being auto-added, this would not be an issue I think.

I was having problems with that, got help for it too, what is happening is a new account has been created on your calendar.

So, you need to go to settings, scroll down to Accounts click on the arrow, that take you where your accounts are, apple, maybe a gmail or Microsoft calendar, check if there is any other you don’t recognize. I found one I knew I didn’t accepted. I deleted that account, close everything back again.

That was it, open my calendar and there was no more scam messages and all went to normal.

Hope work for you.

If you are using iOS 13 or older then Go to Settings Passwords & Accounts and under Accounts see if an unknown calendar account is listed. If it is then tap on it and then Delete account.

If you are using iOS 14 then Go to Settings Calendar Accounts and under Accounts see if an unknown calendar account is listed. If it is then tap on it and then Delete account.

So this just happened to me and I’ve removed all the spam now but I still have a couple questions

1) do I have to reset my phone at all after the spam is gone? I really don’t want to

2) I didn’t click on any of the links on the calendar spam so does that mean no malware or anything is on my phone now?

thanks so much already for fixing the issue!

I don’t know to remove calendar spam

Then I’ll tell you how:

You got tricked into installing a rogue calendar; your phone does not have a virus.

If your phone has iOS 13 or earlier: Go to Settings/Passwords & Accounts, look under Subscribed Calendars, tap on the offending calendar and delete it.

If your phone has iOS 14: Go to Settings/Calendar/Accounts, Tap Subscribed Calendars, tap on the offending calendar and delete it.

And in the future beware of "free" offers

Thank you for responding. The only subscription I have is Apple fitness + in my iCloud account. I don’t know where else to look?

It has nothing to do with purchased subscriptions. It is a calendar subscription. Go to Settings-->>Passwords & Accounts and under Accounts see if an unknown calendar is listed. If it is then tap on it and then Delete account.

I’ve been to settings, then calendar, then clicked on accounts. The two accounts are my two email addresses. One is iCloud and one is outlook. I click on the accounts and iCloud has everything on there including apple pay. I can ‘sign out’ of iCloud. Outlook only has a couple of things on there but has a delete account. Do I sign out of iCloud and/or delete outlook? I keep getting the same response - settings- calendar- accounts and ‘delete rogue account’ but are my two email addresses that appear to be my email addresses the ‘rogue accounts’ and should they not be there?
