Airpods volume

Hi I have had very limited problems so far with my airpods. I have had them for around a year but recently the volume coming from the main speaker (the big oval one u stick in your ear) has been extremely low and the only usable audio has been coming through the two smaller speakers on the side and top. I have tried forgetting them from my phone and reconnecting with no luck. Would appreciate any help
