Repeating letters and added spaces

I have a MacBook Air 2018.

The last 3 months the built in keyboard is adding an extra “i” when I type “i” and adding double spaces between words multiple times in one sentence.

I’ve followed online instructions about turning off the repeat letter function in the keyboard settings.

I’ve turned the machine off and cleaned the keyboard multiple times.

Any help would be appreciated. Otherwise my next step is the Genius Bar.
