Connecting Rode VideoMic Me to MacBook Pro

Hello, I have a MacBook Pro, 2017 (MacOS Catalina 10.15.2) and I want to connect a Rode VideoMic Me microphone to it. Looked at various suggestions and tried using a headphone splitter to the audio port and also adding a TRRS to TRS converter to the splitter but MacBook Pro doesn't seem to recognise the external mic.

Can anyone help with this? How do I get MacBook Pro to recognise the external mic?

Please help.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. I understand there are some issues recognizing the external microphone. I'll do what I can to help.

Here are some suggestions:

If the converter or splitter you're using requires additional software to be recognized, make sure to install it.
Check the settings: Change the sound input settings on Mac
Restart your Mac from the Apple () menu then Restart.
To narrow it down, also be sure to check your Mac in safe mode: Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac You can also try a new user as well: How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac
- If it only happens in your user and not in safe mode, try removing login items: Open items automatically when you log in on Mac
- If it happens in both safe mode and a new user, back up your Mac and reinstall macOS using Recovery: How to reinstall macOS from macOS Recovery
