What did I break in my iMax? Please help!!!

I have an iMac Late 2009 27 inch and I finally took it apart to install a 1 TB SSD and as I was reassembling it and after I put it back together as soon as I turned it on the screen started flickering and graphical issues were all over the screen and lines and artifacts and then the backlight just went off and didn’t come back on. I opened it back up and noticed the vsync cable’s pins are all touching and scrunched together, I accidentally got some of the pins off and now the screen doesn’t turn on at all, do I really need this cable?? The screen doesn’t even turn on without it plugged i.

Ouch.

... do I really need this cable??

Yes. That iMac used one of two types of vertical sync cables. If yours is the one with four distinct conductors, you might be able to just bend them back into place. They're very thin. If one or more break you might be able to cut the cable flush and strip enough insulation off to reinsert it. Otherwise you'll need to find a replacement cable.

If one or more conductors broke off, find and extract the broken ends.
