iPhone shottcut to capitalize fist letter?

If I accidentally type a proper noun without capitalizing the first letter, is there an easy way to get the first letter capitalized? On my iPhone 11 Pro, it seems the only way to accomplish this is to carefully select the first letter and retype it capitalized. I see old hints on the web about selecting the word and tapping or double-tapping the Shift key, but they don’t seem to work any more.

Change text capitalisation in Pages on iPhone

You can quickly make selected text all uppercase or lowercase or format text as a title, with the first letter of each word capitalised.

Watch the GIF below

Modify capitalisation

  1. Select the text you want to change, then tap .
  2. Tap  in the Font section of the controls.
  3. If you can’t see text controls, tap Text or Cell.
  4. Tap a capitalisation option.
    • None: The text is left as you entered it, with no changes.
    • All Caps: All text is capitalised at the same height.
    • Small Caps: All text is capitalised with larger capitals for uppercase letters.
    • Title Case: The first letter of each word (except for prepositions, articles and conjunctions) is capitalised — for example, Seven Wonders of the World.
    • Start Case: The first letter of each word is capitalised — for example, Seven Wonders Of The World.
