Apple TV offer

I joined Apple TV through an offer of a free year from Verizon. Yet, I am about to be billed for a monthly fee of $4.99. Why?

Verizon currently has an offer for Disney+, not Apple TV+.

You may qualify for Apple TV+ if you recently got a new Apple device through them, though.

The free year is not automatic. You have to redeem the year offer specifically. If you sign up for the free week, then that is what you will get, and you will be billed after that.
