I need create a new folder on the "Macintosh HD" drive and I have macOs Calatina

With previous OS systems, I was able to create folders under "Macintosh HD" but recently I upgraded to Calatina and the system is not allowing me to create a new folder in this location. There is a software that I use for work that needs two specific folders to be added in this location so I can't work around creating the folders elsewhere on the mac. I read in another forum that there may be a way to change permissions for the HD to be able to add a folder here but I was not able to find these steps in my research on this.

I would not over think it. Your drive appears like a single volume on the Desktop.

Unless you provide specific details, there is little to add here.

Your r/w privileges are applied to your MacIntosh HD - Data.

macOS Catalina runs on a dedicated, read-only system volume called Macintosh HD. This volume is completely separate from all other data to help prevent the accidental overwriting of critical operating system files. Your files and data are stored in another volume named Macintosh HD - Data. In the Finder, both volumes appear as Macintosh HD.
