Bluetooth from Imac to AV Receiver

Im trying to connect my imac to the Yamaha RX-A680. Receiver.

On my Mac, when i click bluetooth, the device does not show up, hence cannot connect.

I also noticed other apple users had this problem

Have you applied the latest firmware updates to the receiver?

For one, you have not said which model/year iMac you are

trying to use or what macOS version is installed on it.


There could be an issue in terms of the Bluetooth protocols.

Bluetooth is a "master/slave" protocol. If the receiver is a "master",

then it never can talk to an iMac as it is a master as well. This is most

likely the case.


An alternative, without knowing what iMac or macOS is on it, is if

you have a WiFi network, you could do the connection via Airplay:
