Apple Pay won’t take Green Dot Visa

Apple Pay is telling me that my card issuer does not yet support Apple Pay, but it does - I have a Green Dot Visa debit- it’s in the list of approved banks, and the Green Dot app says it does work with Apple Pay.. Is there a work around for this
